An Introduction to Parra

Piet Parra defines what it means to be a legendary artist in my eyes.

He’s a famous Dutch illustrator, known for his wacky shapes, color contrasts and complete personal style in his art. For over two decades, Parra’s done it all—posters, album covers, clothing lines, home goods and more. His use of colors are always very bright and bold, something I truly appreciate. Check out some of his paintings below from 2012-2014. For more of his portfolio, check out Work by Parra here.

When you see a piece of artwork by the Dutch artist, there’s no mistaking who created it. He has a style of his own and that’s a big reason why his stuff is so sought after. Ever since I started following Parra back in 2008/2009, my favorite thing about him has always been how he tied his artwork into his collaborations. He’s partnered up with Nike, Case Studyo, G-Shock and more—the list is endless.

The man hasn’t slowed down at all. Today, he’s still producing some of my favorite pieces out there. Eclectic socks, wacky shower curtains, legendary paintings printed into posters, skateboards and more—all available for purchase on his by Parra online shop (including the most beautiful corduroy jacket I’ve ever seen). I just found out that if you subscribe to the newsletter, you automatically get entered into his monthly raffles for free artwork and gear, too!

Whether you’re new to Parra or already hip, I hope you found a new appreciation for his artwork today. Are you guys a fan of his work? Let me know your thoughts below!
