Our Place Always Pan Hands-On Review
The Our Place Always Pan easily replaces numerous pieces of cookware in your kitchen.
It’s a very bold claim, but I’m telling you now, it does the job plus more! I was pleasantly surprised with the design of the pan, the ease of use, the level of non-stick coating it features and more. Let’s get into it.
The Build Quality + Design
When I first got the pan, I was immediately amazed by how heavy and sturdy it was. There are a lot of really cute, stylish pans on the market, but many can be really flimsy and low -grade. Not the case here. It’s as heavy and weighted as an old school cast iron pan for example, but with a much more modern and nice design. The Always Pan comes in five different shades, I opted for Steam (pictured above), but almost went with Sage too.
How It Cooks
For my first use, I wanted to make something that would utilize multiple features of the pan — searing, sautéing and steaming. What better option than dumplings? The Always Pan comes with a wonderful drop-in steamer basket and to make it even better, the lid rotates to either let out or leave in steam, depending on what you’re making. On medium heat, the pan got hot enough to boil the water and steam my dumplings in about ten minutes. After that, I tossed the water, removed the basket and let the dumplings pan-sear over the same amount of heat. I was about to get beautiful crisp and color after only about 3-4 minutes of cooking.
The Cleanup
Because of the high-performance non-stick coating this pan features, cleanup was way easier than expected. Leftover dumpling skin, burnt sauce and more pretty much just floated right out of the pan with one quick swipe of soapy water and the included non-abrasive sponge. Not much more to say there. Cleanup is as quick and easy as possible. Great work, Our Place!
Overall thoughts
Overall, I never thought I’d be THIS impressed by something as simple as a pan.. but it goes to show you, when you nail the basics, it can really be a game-changer. Our Place does all the little things right and all the big things even better with the Always Pan. If you’ve been considering a purchase, don’t hesitate any longer. I definitely stamp this pan.
