My First Automatic Watch: the Seiko SKX007 Automatic Diver
My watch obsession has grown tremendously over the last year, so I’m glad to finally have my first real piece - the Seiko SKX007 Automatic Diver. This thing is a beast. The SKX007 sits at 42mm across the case, and if you have larger wrists like mine, it’s a perfect fit. Both the case and the bracelet are made of thick stainless steel that feels like it’ll last, and if I ever want to change the bracelet out for something rubber, leather or etc, I can. It’s just a dope entry-level timepiece that I see myself holding on to for a while. Shoutout to Island Watch for the speedy delivery and great service, too.
If you’re new to watches and the different types, automatic pieces don’t require batteries to run and tell time. They’re powered by movement alone, so by simply wearing them, they’ll do their own winding and just keep on running. The level of craftsmanship in automatic watches is typically on another level than quartz, and that’s something I can appreciate.
After this, my next watch may be the SARB035 for something a little dressier. What do y’all think?
I’m still brand new to watches and looking to learn as much as I can, so please send me any tips or recommendations you may have, too!
