Frederick Benjamin Grooming - Hair Care System Review

Black owned Frederick Benjamin Grooming is one of my new favorites when it comes to proper haircare.

Being Black, it ain’t the easiest thing in the world finding products that properly work with my hair. After seeing an Instagram ad for Frederick Benjamin Grooming, seeing they’re Black owned and seeing a few product reviews, I had to give it a shot.

I ended up purchasing one of The Line Hair Care System sets that includes: Shampoo, Conditioner, a Daily Hydrator, plus Sleek Water Pomade. I’ll go ahead and tell you now, this is my new go-to 100%. The Shampoo, Conditioner and Daily Hydrator all work so well together. Clove, Nettle and Hemp Seed oils are all included in the formula, but my favorite is the Spearmint oil because it leaves such a refreshing feeling on my scalp after doing the routine — that looks a little something like this:

First, I wash my hair with the Shampoo. With a lot of shampoos, even with a ton of water, I find myself having to lather twice to get some real activation. One pump is more than enough with this shampoo, trust me. I always get a nice, good clean. Once I rinse that out, I move to the Conditioner.

I always recommend using some sort of conditioner, especially if you’re rocking waves. You’ll see a massive difference, so once I apply the Frederick Benjamin Conditioner, I leave it in for a few minutes and let it work its magic. I make sure I rinse it out thoroughly and man, my hair is always so soft after this. Next, I move on to the Daily Hydrator.

A little goes a long way, but really make sure you get enough of the Daily Hydrator down to your scalp and in your hair. The tingly feeling is AMAZING from the Spearmint oil and it’s lightweight enough to not leave any buildup in my hair. I brush my hair directly after this.

Then, I finish up with the Sleek Water Pomade. I take a fingertip amount, gently smooth it out through my hair, then I brush again. I put my durag on overnight or for a few hours in the morning, depending on when I do this routine, and I’m good to go once I un-rag. My hair is always shiny, soft, looks healthy and the waves are going crazy. I really like this pomade, because with many others, it cakes up HEAVILY in my hair. The Sleek Water Pomade leaves damn near no residue at all, you gotta love it. It’s pretty light too, in a great way, but I’ll use a little extra when my hair has wolfed out a bit.
