Design Within Reach Story Bookcase - Review + Photos

Design Within Reach Story Bookcase Floyd Sofa

The Design Within Reach Story Bookcase is the PERFECT addition to my new home.

Long story short, I’ve been wanting this piece for a long time. A LONG time. I’m talking about stalking the #storybookcase hashtag on Instagram, going to see it in person, leaving envious comments on other people’s pics of theirs and more — but I finally completed the mission. The Story Bookcase comes in two sizes (Tall, Standard) and six colors (Coal, Grey, Pineapple, White, Sky, Tomato). For my new place, I opted for the Tall version in Pineapple — mainly to match my Knot Cushion, also in the Yellow colorway.

The package arrives in two boxes — one with the inner metal core, the second with all of the colored sleeves, shelving and screws. Honestly, the biggest surprise to me (and a good surprise) is how heavy this thing is. Each piece of the Bookcase is HEAAAVY. The box with the shelves and sleeves alone is already like 50 pounds! You’re in for a treat — nothing flimsy here.

The only tool you need to put the Bookcase together is a hex key, which they provide. Super easy to do. You slide a sleeve onto the core, then a shelf, then a sleeve, then a shelf — over and over until you reach the top and secure it with a bolt! Each shelf has a seven pound limit, which is plenty for pretty much anything you’d like to store. For mine, I’m sticking with books and maybe my KAWS statue. We’ll see as time goes on.

Overall, so far so good! I highly recommend and I hope some of y’all cop. Link below!
